Linn park walk
I recently changed it up and ventured to the south side of Glasgow to Linn park, only 22 minutes away from city centre by car. It’s a massive park that spreads almost 200 acres, located next to Cathcart and not too far from Shawlands area. There are lots of different paths and turns to take that offers a different experience and route each time I visit. One of my favourite spots in the park is the large waterfall that falls into the pond. A fence blocks the area of but is easy to hop over, and many do, to sit facing the waterfall crashing down. Due to the dense woodland and greenery the park itself really feels far away from the city in its own secluded area, it almost feels similar to so walks in Aviemore proving how different it is to being in the city.
Some other unique features of this park which aren’t in any of the other walks include a large 18 hole golf course and also an equestrian school which sometimes has pony walks! Both these places include toilets so you're never too far away from one. It also includes the usual paths and play parks.
In the summer many take advantage of one of the large hills to have BBQs and picnics but if you are looking to go out to eat there is many nice cafes located in Shawlands, just a 7-minute drive away. Also right next the the park just a 9 minute walk away is a tiktok viral café called tophskis located in a converted church serving takeaway food.
There are also 2 carparks so parking is never an issue, I usually park on a street and walk in over an old bridge overlooking the river.
Overall I’d rate this walk a 9/10 due to extensive size the walk can be changed up everytime you visit.
